KINSHASA, DR- CONGO – President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, took part in the mass to remember Marshal Mobutu’s death, who died 26 years ago in Rabat, Morocco, alongside the Mobutu children, Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, and former dignitaries of the second republic.
For the first time ever, in contrast to all previous years, a Head of State is involved in the ceremonies paying honor to the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s second Head of State, who ruled the nation for over 32 years, from 1965 to 1997.
“Your presence at this celebration is an expression of your readiness to be close to others, in moments of sorrow as of joy”, said Father Yves Koko to the Head of State before adding that “the presence of the Head of State is a sign of comfort to the Mobutu family.”
