Nigerian author, Chinua Achebe wrote his debut novel “Things Fall Apart” in 1958 at the age of 28. The book has since sold over 20 million copies and has been translated into more than 50 languages.
It has received numerous accolades, including being ranked as one of the Greatest Books Ever Written by Encyclopedia Brittanica in 2018 and being listed as number 5 on BBC’s 100 Stories That Shaped The World.
The book was also featured on the TV series, The Great American Read, as one of the 100 books.
In 2011, Achebe’s legal team forced rapper 50 Cent to rename his forthcoming movie “Things Fall Apart” after he offered Achebe $1 million dollars, which Achebe rejected.
The movie was later renamed “All Things Fall Apart”. Achebe’s legacy lives on, and readers continue to enjoy his work.
